Starter for Husqvarna 435 / 440 chainsaw easy start

This Husqvarna 435 starter is a manual starting assembly with spring-assisted starting, intended for selected Husqvarna 435, 435e, 440 and 440e petrol chainsaw variants. It replaces the damaged starter housing, drum, spring mechanism, rope and handle.

The easy-start mechanism stores part of the rope's pull energy in a spring. As a result, the crankshaft turns more smoothly, and the user doesn't have to overcome the full compression resistance with one sharp motion.

However, Husqvarna updated the 435 and 440 models several times. Therefore, in some later versions, including some Mark II variants, a different housing or starter mechanism may be used. The model number alone is not sufficient for precise part selection.

It's worth replacing the starter if the rope no longer rewinds, the drum slips, the easy-start mechanism no longer stores energy, or the housing itself is damaged. However, before replacement check the flywheel engagement elements, as they can also prevent the starter from turning the engine.

Before ordering, compare the shape of the housing, mounting holes and internal mechanism with the original part. Also, if possible, check the number of the old starter. After installing the starter, pull the handle slowly a few times and make sure the mechanism engages and fully returns the rope.
