What to Check Before Installing?

Before installing a new piston, carefully inspect the 36 mm cylinder.

The cylinder surface should not have deep scratches, severe wear or adhered piston aluminium. If the cylinder is heavily damaged, it must be repaired or replaced before installing the new piston.

Also check the piston pin, needle bearing and connecting rod.

Install the piston in the correct orientation. Before fitting the cylinder, correctly position the piston rings according to their locating pins.

During assembly, lubricate the piston, rings and bearing with clean two-stroke oil.

After assembling the engine, rotate the crankshaft by hand several times. The piston should move freely through the full 33 mm stroke.
