Ignition coil for Oleo-Mac 947 952 GS520 EFCO MT5200

This Oleo-Mac 952 ignition coil – a non-original ignition module, replacing the original part 2501001R.

The coil fits Oleo-Mac 947, 952 and GS 520 chainsaws and the corresponding Efco 147, 152 and MT 5200 models.

The same ignition coil number is used for all the models listed above.

In this engine family the flywheel is a separate component. The Oleo-Mac 947, 952 and GS 520 ignition system uses the 50260015R flywheel version.

Ignition Coil Function

The ignition coil generates a high-voltage pulse to the spark plug when the flywheel magnet passes by the coil.

A faulty coil can cause:

Complete loss of spark
Intermittent spark
Difficulty starting
Engine stalling when hot
Unexpected loss of ignition during operation

Before replacing the coil check the spark plug, its cap, the high-tension lead, the kill switch wires and the flywheel. A damaged lead or a faulty kill switch can also completely eliminate the spark.

Installation

Before repair disconnect the spark plug. Clean the coil mounting areas and check the flywheel magnets.

Attach the coil straight and set the manufacturer's specified gap between the coil and the flywheel. The wires must be routed so that they cannot be reached by the rotating flywheel.

After installation check that the spark plug receives a strong and steady spark.
