    Why is engine sealing important?

Pressure and vacuum pulses that form in the crankcase of a two-stroke engine help supply the fuel mixture. Therefore, worn seals can let in additional air. With a leaking crankcase, the engine may be difficult to start, idle speed may become unstable, and the fuel mixture – too lean.

A damaged carburetor gasket disrupts the sealing of the intake system. Meanwhile, a worn muffler gasket can leak exhaust gases and combustion residues at the cylinder exhaust port. When repairing the engine and replacing these parts, do not reuse compressed or damaged gaskets.

    Installation recommendations

Before installation, thoroughly clean the mating surfaces and remove remnants of old gaskets. Insert the oil seals straight, and lightly lubricate their sealing lips with two-stroke engine oil. After assembling the engine, check crankcase sealing with a pressure and vacuum test. Only after that adjust the carburetor.
