Flywheel and Ignition System

Starter pawl – 50072029These are separate parts. Therefore, if the starter does not engage or there is no spark, before replacing the flywheel you should check the specific assembly that is causing the fault.
The flywheel is mounted directly on the crankshaft. The magnetic part in it works together with the ignition coil. A damaged hub, keyway groove or the magnetic part can cause vibration, incorrect ignition timing or spark problems.
Installation
Before installation, check the crankshaft taper and key. Surfaces must be clean and undamaged so that the flywheel seats correctly on the shaft.
While the flywheel is removed, it is worth checking the starter pawl and the ignition coil. After installing the flywheel, turn it by hand before starting the engine. The flywheel must rotate freely and not bind anywhere.
