    The original parts source number 1106 020 1202 is listed as the 58 mm cylinder and piston assembly for the STIHL 090 G model. In aftermarket parts catalogs it is also assigned to the appropriate 070 and MS720 versions.

    However, before ordering it is necessary to check the original part number and measure the cylinder. Standard STIHL 090 saws often use a larger 66 mm cylinder, so the model name 090 alone is not sufficient.

    The NIKASIL coating provides a hard, low-friction working surface for the cylinder. However, an incorrect fuel mixture, too little oil, overheating or an air leak can quickly damage the new parts.

    Therefore, before installation check the crankshaft bearings, connecting rod, needle bearing, carburetor, fuel system and oil seals. Also remove any old piston or cylinder debris from the crankcase.

    During assembly, lubricate the cylinder, piston and rings with two-stroke engine oil. Correctly orient the piston, check the ring positions and use the tightening torques specified for the particular engine.
