Before installation check the crankshaft, connecting rod bearing, crankshaft oil seals, intake system sealing and carburetor adjustment. A too-lean fuel mixture or an air leak can cause piston seizure and cylinder damage.

Thoroughly clean the crankcase mounting surface. Install the piston in the correct orientation, position the ring according to its locating pin and fit the cylinder without compressing the ring forcefully.
