Clutch for Chinese trimmers 6-coil spring

This BC415 brushcutter clutch is a two-shoe centrifugal assembly with a single six-coil tension spring. As engine RPM increases, the clutch transfers power to the drum and drive shaft, and when RPM decreases it allows the cutting tool to stop.

Application of the BC415 brushcutter clutch

The clutch is intended for selected Chinese-design two-stroke trimmers and brushcutters, often marked as:

However, markings of universal brushcutter models are not completely standardized. Two machines labeled BC415 or CG430 may have different mounting distances, clutch diameter or a different spring. Therefore, before ordering you need to compare the construction of the part itself.

As engine speed increases, centrifugal force pushes both shoes outward. Their friction surfaces are then pressed against the clutch drum and begin to turn the drive shaft. Conversely, when speed decreases the spring retracts the shoes.

A stretched or broken spring can cause the cutting head to spin at idle. Also, smoothed or heavily worn shoes can slip and transmit power poorly. However, similar symptoms can also be caused by excessive idle RPM.

Before ordering, compare the overall diameter, thickness, central bore, mounting hole diameter, the distance between them and the shape of the spring. Also inspect the working surface of the clutch drum.

Before installation, disconnect the ignition spark plug lead. Also check the thread direction of the mounting bolts and protect the clutch's friction surfaces from oil and grease.
