This STIHL MS271 carburetor is a C1Q-type non-original replacement part designed for selected versions of STIHL MS261, MS271 and MS291 gasoline chainsaws that have a conventional mechanical carburetor. It replaces a worn or damaged carburetor that can no longer stably meter the fuel-air mixture.

The MS261 model name alone is not sufficient for an exact selection. It is especially important to pay attention to MS261 C-M versions with the electronic M-Tronic control system, as they require appropriate electronically controlled parts.

The carburetor meters the amount of fuel according to the air flowing through it and the engine's operating mode. Therefore, a damaged diaphragm, a leaking valve or a clogged passage can make starting difficult, cause unstable idle or worsen engine response.

However, similar failure symptoms can be caused by intake system leaks, a clogged fuel filter, a damaged pulse connector or low compression. For this reason, it is worth checking the entire fuel supply and intake system before installation.

Also compare the carburetor mounting surfaces, throttle and choke controls, fuel connections and the pulse channel. After installation, adjust the idle according to the specific chainsaw's technical requirements.
