The carburetor regulates the amount of fuel and air mixture according to the engine's operating mode. Therefore damaged diaphragms, a leaking internal valve or clogged passages can make starting difficult, cause uneven idling and worsen acceleration.

However, similar failure symptoms can be caused by an intake connection leak, damaged crankshaft seals, a clogged fuel filter, a hardened hose or low compression. For this reason, before replacing the carburetor check the entire fuel and intake system.

Compare the mounting openings, intake and air filter surfaces, fuel connection, impulse channel, throttle lever and choke control. Also replace hardened gaskets and damaged hoses.

After installation, adjust the carburetor according to the specific chainsaw's technical requirements. An overly lean mixture can overheat the engine and damage the cylinder assembly.
