Purpose of the Echo GT-22 Carburetor

The diaphragm carburetor controls the fuel-and-air mixture entering the engine. When the carburetor is worn, the following symptoms may occur:

Difficulty starting the engine
Engine runs only with the choke engaged
Unstable idle
Poor throttle response
Engine loses power under load
Fuel leaks or the engine floods

However, before replacing the carburetor it is worth checking the fuel filter, hoses, air filter and intake gaskets.

Before installation compare the fuel connections, throttle mechanism, mounting points and overall construction of the old and new carburetor. Do not assume gaskets or other external parts are included in the kit if they are not visible in the product photos.

After fitting, check that the throttle moves freely and returns to the idle position. Also ensure that there are no fuel leaks.

After replacement it may be necessary to adjust the idle or the fuel mixture. Perform adjustments with a clean air filter and fresh two-stroke engine fuel mixture.
